4 Actual cases with Glassydur that guaranteed the success of the project

The use of Glassydur as precast concrete in construction is a solution that offers high performance. As precast concrete, Glassydur has certain attractive characteristics that allow the field of modern architecture to provide a wide variety of shapes, measurements, textures, colors and finishes.

But why to build with Glassydur?

It is a material that has a high resistance to bending and traction; besides, it is very resistant to impacts, erosion and has a thickness of nearly two centimeters.
It is a fire-retardant, waterproof and resistant to atmospheric agents material; furthermore, it is anticorrosive, thermal-insulating and an acoustic insulator.
It allows a more responsible use of the material. The combination of concrete with precast has paved the way to more sustainable construction solutions.
All these characteristics have let an increasing number of professionals in the construction sector choose Glassydur to carry out various projects.

In this article, we will try to expose four cases in which the characteristics of Glassydur have made the project in question successful.

1. HOTEL CANARY GARDEN CLUB 4 *: A SIMPLE EXECUTION WITH A LOT OF PERSONALITY FOR A SUSTAINABLE PROJECT

The Canary Garden Club Hotel already had three stars, but it had set itself the goal of upgrading to a four-star category. To do this, a series of specific reforms had to be carried out, including redesigning the entrance to the hotel.

The proposal for the entrance consisted of a structure of consecutive beams that together simulated an entrance tunnel to the hotel and gave the possibility of getting profits from the natural light outside through its slits. Thus, in addition, the rainwater could be used for the flowerpots arranged on the sides.

The choice of the Glassydur Sandwich panel to carry out this design facilitated a quick and easy premise. The redesign only lasted a month from the manufacture of the beams to the completion of the facility. And only a crane was needed for its assembly.

The finishes achieved were excellent in addition to providing the beam structure with a much higher quality and execution.

Furthermore, the objective of taking advantage of natural outdoor light and rainwater through its crevices was achieved, thus achieving a more sustainable and efficient structure.

2. ROYAL HIDEAWAY CORALES RESORT: THE PERFECT HARMONY BETWEEN NATURAL AND PREFABRICATED TEXTURES

In the design of the Royal Hideaway Corales Resort, the construction of a natural grotto was considered to benefit from the kind of stone scattered in the place, to which there was also greater access due to the excavation that the work required.

The project needed a material that would reproduce the natural beauty of the stone and allow it to continue with the depth of the grotto, endowing it with waterproof and highly resistant properties that offer security and perpetuity of the structure.

The choice of cladding with Glassydur Rocalla made it possible to continue with the same style, shape and texture as that of natural stone and also achieved a homogeneity between the precast material, Glassydur, and natural stone.

In this way, it was possible to create a completely natural-looking grotto, which even resembled a natural cave in certain areas, as well as having a high-performance material that does not need any sort of maintenance.

3. PUERTO MUELLE DE GARACHICO AND A WAVE-PROOF RESISTANT MATERIAL

The harbour and pier in Garachico, although it seems that they only provide this unique town with architectural value and great beauty, were created with a very specific objective: to make the harbour more passable by creating a border to the sea and its waves.

The project required to achieve a lightweight formwork resistant to impacts, atmospheric agents and sea erosion. Glassydur helped meet the project’s expectations by providing it with shapes and textures in tune with the sculpture (back water turn) and the mural design (Neptune).

In its total composition, Garachico Harbour consists of a sculpture made up of three large irregular tetrahedra, which simulate the back water turn of a sailboat.

The use of Glassydur made it possible to achieve a height of 12.60 m and a total volume per tetrahedron of 118 m³. It also allowed the construction of a wall along the pier with the figure of Neptune in relief.

4. MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL OF SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE: A SOLUTION TO NOISE POLLUTION BY MEANS OF A VERY ATTRACTIVE DESIGN

The municipal swimming pool of Santa Cruz de Tenerife required a solution to noise pollution as well as housing greater privacy without losing aesthetics and continuing to get profits from natural light.

One of the advantages that precast concrete provides in a project is that it is an excellent acoustic insulator and that it also allows a design adapted to all its needs in terms of shapes, textures and sizes.

Therefore, in order to achieve an enclosure wall that would considerably reduce the noise coming from an adjoining road, Glassydur was selected as the main material. This provided the privacy sought while allowing the passage of light through a solid and striking design along the entire wall.

In other words, Glassydur facilitates a simple, fast and resistant construction with multiple finishes. Consequently, when highlighting that the alternative of building with precast concrete is unlimited, we are not only referring to its architectural capabilities in the creative and aesthetic aspect; we also point to the numerous benefits that it proves to have in the materialization of any project.
